Remarkable Success for Third Annual Joan DeCotis Foundation Fundraising Gala

On August 1, 2019, the Joan DeCotis Foundation hosted its third fundraising gala at The Dunes Club in Narragansett, Rhode Island. During this special evening under the stars, over 300 guests enjoyed dinner and silent and live auctions, all with a common goal: to raise funds for lung cancer support and research. Thanks to the incredible generosity of attendees and supporters, this year’s gala raised over $110,000.

“Our gala and auction provide a wonderful opportunity for lung cancer patients and survivors, their caregivers, healthcare professionals, and members of the community to see first-hand how important philanthropic support is in the research and development of clinical trials”, said Kristen Decotis-Liguori, Joan DeCotis Foundation Board Member. “We are thrilled with the outpouring of support as these trials continue to offer some of the best treatment hope for those with lung cancer.” This is the Foundation’s third significant fundraiser held to fund innovative clinical treatments for lung cancer patients and to shine a light on this devastating disease.

Since 2016, the Joan DeCotis Foundation has partnered with Brown University Oncology Research Group (BrUOG), one of the leading cancer research groups in the county, whose mission is to improve cancer care through the implementation of innovative, multidisciplinary cancer clinical trials. The Foundation was honored to present a check to BrUOG on November 7, 2019, to help continue to drive these important advances in the treatment of lung cancer.

The Foundation wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to the many sponsors who helped make the event a remarkable milestone, especially premium sponsor Anchor Subaru, and the following platinum sponsors: ASSA ABLOY, CORE Cycle.Fitness.Lagree, Croton Stokes Wilson Holden, DeCotis Specialty Insurance, Jones Kelleher LLP, Koda Creative Group, the Liguori family, Mark McGovern, Rhode Island Monthly, and the Skeffington family.
